The short answer
NHTSA received Starcraft Bus’s report on Mar 19, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
A misprinted label could lead to improper vehicle loading. Improper loading could result in a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Starcraft Bus is recalling certain model year 2004-2009 XLT buses manufactured from January 16, 2004, to October 29, 2009.
The affected vehicles have incorrect values for the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Axle Weight Rating specified on the certification label.
Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
