The short answer

NHTSA received Prevost Cars, Inc.’s report on Jan 17, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

An activation of the AFSS causes the vehicle to come to an unplanned stop. This could increase the risk of a vehicle crash or personal injury.

Prevost is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 H3 and X3 coaches and MTH XLII-45E coach shells manufactured between June 29, 2009, up to June 4, 2012, and equipped with an Automatic Fire Detection and Suppression System (AFSS).

There is the possibility that the AFSS could unintentionally activate due to wear of the linear thermal detection cable.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
