Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the seat belt buckle stays latched when the button is pressed, there is an increased risk of injury in an emergency, or the seat belt may not properly release in the event of a crash.
Seats Incorporated (Seats) is recalling certain seats that are equipped with IMMI-brand L9 end-release seat belt buckles.
When the button is pressed to release the seat belt, the latch plate can become partially engaged with the buckle, making the seat belt difficult to unlatch.
Thus, this equipment fails to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 209, “Seat Belt Assemblies.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
