What’s wrong with it?
Oil on hot engine or exhaust surfaces can result in smoke and possibly a fire.
Fram Group Operations, LLC (Fram) is recalling certain Subaru original service equipment oil filters sold for installation on Subaru Legacy, Outback, Impreza, and Forester model vehicles equipped with certain 4 cylinder engines.
Due to manufacturing anomalies, upon engine start up, engine oil may leak from around the oil filter gasket, causing a rapid loss of nearly all engine oil.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
