What’s wrong with it?
If the utility bar fails while in use, whatever is being towed may come loose increasing the risk of a crash.
Rigid Hitch Inc. is recalling certain Heavy Duty Utility Bar hitches with the part number HUB-3208.
The affected 2” bars drop 8” between hole centers and are stamped 33411-04812 near the weld line.
Due to an incorrect welder placement, the weld penetration may be insufficient, causing the utility bar to crack and fail.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
