Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
The cable may contact the power lug at the base of the wheel chair lift causing a short circuit that could result in a fire.
Coach and Equipment is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Phoenix transit buses manufactured August 2006, through November 2012; and 2007 and 2009 Metro Lite transit buses manufactured January 2007, through December 2009.
These buses are equipped with Ricon manufactured wheelchair lifts which have an optional armored pendant cable.
The cable may have been installed such that it doesn’t clear the wheelchair lift and without a protective cover, or a misinstalled protective cover.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
