The short answer

NHTSA received HINO MOTORS SALES U.S.A., INC.’s report on Dec 3, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 23, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the B+ circuit shorts to ground, it may lead to a fire.

Hino is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2013 medium duty trucks, models NA6J, NB6J, NC6J, ND8J, NE8J, NJ8J, NF8J, and NV8J, manufactured from August 18, 2003, through November 16, 2011.

Over time, the main B+ circuit from the battery to the starter could potentially short to ground due to wear that accumulates as a result of interference between the B+ circuit and its convoluted tubing sheath.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
