Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
Failure of the cruise control to disengage when the brakes are applied may increase the risk of a vehicle crash. Without the brake lights illuminating when the brakes are applied, the driver’s intent is not communicated, increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Freightliner brand XB and XC custom chassis manufactured January 1, 2010, through September 20, 2012.
The chassis are equipped with diode jumpers that may come loose in their connectors resulting in an open circuit.
Two circuits are affected: The one that disengages the cruise control with brake pedal use, and the one that illuminates the brake lights with brake pedal use.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
