Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
In the event the egress window fails during an emergency situation, passengers may be trapped in the bus placing them at risk of injury.
Nova Bus is recalling certain model year 2010 LFS transit buses manufactured June 10, 2010, through November 11, 2010; and equipped with flush mounted windows and Ricon 3-Minute Urban Transit Bus egress window sets.
The composition of the material used to cast the handles is incorrect resulting in embrittlement of the handle and a reduction in material strength.
The handle(s) on the emergency egress passenger windows may break before the window latch is released.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
