The short answer

NHTSA received New Flyer Industries Ltd.’s report on Oct 17, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 21, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

In the event the egress window fails during an actual emergency situation, passengers may be trapped in the vehicle placing them at risk of injury.

New Flyer is recalling certain model year 2010 GE35LFR and GE40LFR transit buses, equipped with Ricon 3-Minute Urban Transit Bus egress window sets.

The composition of the material used to cast the handle that opens the egress window is incorrect, resulting in a reduction in material strength.

The handle(s) on the emergency egress passenger windows may break before the window latch is released.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
