The short answer

NHTSA received VAN HOOL N.V.’s report on Oct 12, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 28, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the alternator overheats, the components may melt, possibly resulting in smoke and creating the potential risk of a vehicle fire.

Van Hool is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 C2045, and model year 2011 T2140 and T2145 motorcoaches manufactured from September 2010 through September 2011, equipped with a Daimler DD13 engine without ground cables installed on the Prestolite AC172 alternators.

Internal corrosion may cause the alternator components to overheat.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
