What’s wrong with it?
If the parking brake does not fully release, the service brakes may lock up without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Navistar is recalling certain model year 2013 International 8600, 2012 and 2013 Durastar, 2011-2013 ProStar, and 2012 WorkStar trucks, manufactured from November 23, 2010, through April 02, 2012, and equipped with piston spring brake feature code 04EVP.
The piston bore area of the parking brake chamber may have an air leak could result in the parking brake not fully releasing.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
