NHTSA received ALUMINA, INC’s report on Aug 3, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
The E/H brake actuator provides braking power to the trailer brakes. Failure of the actuator can result in the loss of braking effort by the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
Alumina, Inc., dba Boatwheels, is recalling a model year 2011 PB27-TH1200 and a 2011 PB36-RS2100 trailer each equipped with a Dexter Axle brand electric/hydraulic (E/H) brake actuator pump.
These pumps may not have been properly heat treated.
This condition can cause premature wear of some critical components in these pumps which can render the unit inoperable.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
