What’s wrong with it?
If the spindle fails, the wheel may separate from the knuckle, resulting in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling two model year 2013 Saf-T-Liner C2 Thomas Built school buses manufactured from April 18, 2012, through May 11, 2012, and equipped with Detroit Axle brand front axle knuckles.
The front knuckles on these vehicles may have a machining error in the wheel bearing area which may lead to premature spindle failure.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
