Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
This condition could reduce braking ability and lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Nova Bus is recalling certain model year 2012 Nova LFS transit buses equipped with certain Bendix brake valves, treadle assemblies, and/or plunger kits. The brake valve plunger may fracture after brake application, resulting in reduced brake pedal angle and travel.
This condition may limit the driver’s ability to deliver full pressure from the foot brake valve.
There is also the potential that the brake plunger could become lodged and prevent the release of the service brakes.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
