The short answer

NHTSA received UD TRUCKS CORPORATION’s report on Jun 4, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

IF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES AN AIR LEAK IN EITHER THE PRIMARY OR THE SECONDARY SYSTEM, THE VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

UD TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA (UD TRUCKS) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 UD 3300 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH A DUAL STEERING SYSTEM.

MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLES MAY HAVE RESULTED IN LOSS OF ISOLATION BETWEEN THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS.

THUS, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 121, “AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS.” MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLES MAY HAVE RESULTED IN LOSS OF ISOLATION BETWEEN THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
