The short answer

NHTSA received TURTLE TOP’s report on Feb 2, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

IF SUFFICIENT ARCING OCCURS, THE FUSE HOLDER MAY MELT AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE.

TURTLE TOP IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL 2008 THROUGH 2011 ODYSSEY, ODYSSEY XL, AND ODYSSEY LT VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 11, 2008, THROUGH OCTOBER 26, 2011, AND BUILT ON FORD, GENERAL MOTORS, AND FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS, EQUIPPED WITH A CARRIER CORPORATION GEN V EM-1 EVAPORATOR.

THE EM-1 EVAPORATORS CONTAIN A FUSE HOLDER IN THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY WHICH DUE TO TIME, TEMPERATURE, AND/OR VIBRATION MAY CAUSE THE FUSE TO LOOSEN IN THE FUSE HOLDER, RESULTING IN HIGH RESISTANCE AND ARCING.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
