Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the weld fails on the guide wheel unit while the vehicle is traveling on a roadway, it could create a potential road hazard, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Harsco Rail is recalling certain accessory HY-RAIL HR4000 series B and HY-RAIL HR4100 series B rear guide wheel units, within the serial number range 60100 through 63494.
These units are installed for use on various work trucks to enable the vehicle to travel on railroad tracks.
The potentially affected units may have been manufactured with an insufficient weld on the upper structure.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
