The short answer

NHTSA received Thermo King Corp.’s report on Oct 12, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the door separates from the APU while the vehicle is being driven, it may create a road hazard for other drivers.

Thermo King is recalling certain TriPac Auxiliary Power Units (APU), serial numbers 3000106335 to 3000127584, manufactured from July 29, 2011, through November 7, 2011, and used in tractor trucks.

The maintenance access panel door may dislodge and separate from the APU.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
