The short answer

NHTSA received Federal-Mogul Corporation’s report on Oct 2, 2012. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, may result in a vehicle fire.

Federal-Mogul is recalling certain Precision A23000, A23001, and A23067 aftermarket fuel pumps, shipped from April 2, 2012, through September 21, 2012.

These fuel pumps were installed as replacement fuel pumps for use on various Ford vehicles for model years 1989 through 1997.

The vehicles included are: Bronco, E Super Duty, Econoline (E-150, E-250, E-350), Explorer, F Super Duty, F-150, F-250, F-350, and Mercury Mountaineer.

A seal in the pump can fail causing a fuel leak.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
