What’s wrong with it?

A user could suffer an electrical shock should they contact the electrical lead. This risk may exist even when the charging station is turned off.

EV-Charge America Ltd.

(EVCA) is recalling certain electric vehicle charging stations produced from May 15, 2009, through August 15, 2012.

Due to an improper relay, the electrical lead that connects to the vehicle may be energized even when the charging station is turned off.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
