Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
THE ABSENCE OF STANDARDIZED MOTORCYCLE CONTROLS MAY HINDER THE OPERATORS ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY BRAKE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
CFMOTO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005 THROUGH 2009 CF250T V3, AND CF205T V5 AUTOMATIC MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 1, 2005, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2009.
THESE MODELS WERE BUILT WITH A LEFT HAND REAR WHEEL BRAKE INSTEAD OF THE REQUIRED RIGHT FOOT OPERATED REAR WHEEL BRAKE.
THEREFORE, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 123, “MOTORCYCLE CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
