What’s wrong with it?
AN ENGINE STALL CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH WITH INJURY OR DEATH.
YAMAHA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 VMX17 (V-MAX) MOTORCYCLES, INCLUDING THE YB, YCB, ZR, ZCR AG AND ACG VARIANTS, MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 2008 THROUGH APRIL 2011.
ON AFFECTED MOTORCYCLES, HIGH OIL PRESSURE CAN BUILD UP INSIDE THE OIL PUMP CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION.
OIL MIGHT THEN STOP PUMPING THROUGH THE ENGINE RESULTING IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE THAT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL AND NOT RESTART AGAIN.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
