What’s wrong with it?
HEADLIGHTS INSTALLED AT HEIGHTS OUTSIDE OF THE PARAMETERS SET BY THE SAFETY STANDARD MAY NOT FULLY ILLUMINATE ROAD SURFACES OR MAY INHIBIT THE ABILITY OF MOTORISTS TO SEE VEHICLES INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DAIMLER TRUCKS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 BUSINESS CLASS M2 106V INCOMPLETE CHASSIS CAB VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 19, 2010, THROUGH JANUARY 14, 2011.
THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, “LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.” THE HEADLIGHTS ON SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED MORE THAN 54” FROM THE ROAD SURFACE.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
