The short answer

NHTSA received DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA’s report on Sep 3, 2010. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

UNEXPECTED ENGINE SHUTDOWN OR A LOSS OF VEHICLE LIGHTING AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN CERTAIN TRAFFIC CONDITIONS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

DAIMLER TRUCKS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 THROUGH 2011 MVP-EF NON SCHOOL BUSES MANUFCATURED FROM SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 THROUGH JULY 16, 2010, EQUIPPED WITH THE MEGAFUSE JUNCTION BOX.

ON AFFECTED VEHICLES THE MEGAFUSE JUNCTION BOX IS LOCATED IN AN AREA EXPOSED TO EXCESSIVE ROAD SPLASH AND SPRY.

IN SOME APPLICATIONS THE CABLE CONNECTIONS MAY CORRODE RAPIDLY.

IF UNDETECTED, EXTREME CORROSION MAY CAUSE A POWER CABLE TO BECOME SEPARATED FROM THE POWER SOURCE RESULTING IN AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE SHUTDOWN OR LOSS OF VEHICLE LIGHTING AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
