The short answer

NHTSA received PACCAR INCORPORATED’s report on May 4, 2010. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A WHEEL END FIRE MAY OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

KENWORTH IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 T2000, T660, T800 AND W900 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JULY 30, 2009 AND SEPTEMBER 18, 2009.

THE REAR AXLE OUTER END HUB MAY HAVE NOT BEEN PRIMED WITH OIL PROPERLY DURING THE REAR AXLE INSTALLATION PROCESS.

POTENTIAL LACK OF OIL MAY CAUSE THE OUTER END BEARING TO HEAT UP AND/OR SEIZE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN THE OVERHEATING OF THE WHEEL END.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
