The short answer

NHTSA received PACCAR INCORPORATED’s report on Jun 18, 2009. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

THIS CAN ALLOW THE FASTENERS TO SHEAR AND FALL EITHER ONTO THE ROADWAY OR INTO THE DRUM BRAKE ASSEMBLY, POTENTIALLY ALLOWING THE BRAKE TO BIND AND CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR.

KENWORTH IS RECALLING 9 MY 2009 T800S VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DANA FRONT AXLE.

THE BRAKE SPIDER MOUNTING FASTENERS ATTACHING THE BRAKE SPIDER TO THE FRONT STEER AXLE FLANGE MAY HAVE RECEIVED INSUFFICIENT TORQUE DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCESS.

THE INSUFFICIENT TORQUE MAY ALLOW THE BRAKE SPIDER FASTENERS AND BRAKE SPIDER TO BECOME LOOSE.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
