The short answer

NHTSA received DIAMOND COACH CORPORATION’s report on Jun 1, 2009. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

THIS CONDITION WILL NOT PERMIT THE COVER FASTENERS TO SECURELY CLAMP THE COVER TO THE UNIT ASSEMBLY, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE COVER DISLOCATING FROM THE UNIT DURING OPERATION, POSSIBLY CAUSING A CRASH OR CAUSE INJURY TO PEDESTRIANS.

DIAMOND COACH IS RECALLING 10 MODEL YEAR 2008 AND 2009 VIP MOTOR COACHES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 25, 2008 AND MARCH 23, 2009, EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER K410 ROOFTOP MOUNTED CONDENSERS.

THE COVER OF THE CONDENSER ASSEMBLY MAY INTERFERE WITH THE COIL HEADER WHEN THE COVER IS PLACED ON THE UNIT ASSEMBLY.

THE POTENTIAL INTERFERENCE PREVENTS THE COVER FROM RESTING ON THE UNIT MOUNTING SURFACE, CREATING A GAP BETWEEN THE COVER AND UNIT ASSEMBLY.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
