The short answer

NHTSA received PACCAR INCORPORATED’s report on Apr 29, 2009. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN REDUCED BRAKING CAPACITY AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES, OR PART OF THE ANCHOR PLATE COULD SEPARATE AND FALL ONTO THE ROADWAY. EITHER OF THESE COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

PACCAR IS RECALLING 2 MY 2009 KENWORTH T270 AND T370 4X2 TRUCKS.

THE ANCHOR PLATE TIE BAR WHICH REINFORCES THE ANCHOR PLATE ON 73MM CALIPERS WAS NOT INSTALLED.

UNDER HIGH TORQUE BRAKE APPLICATIONS THE SLIDE PINS COULD BIND, RESULTING IN A REDUCTION OF THE BRAKING EFFORT AND/OR BRAKE DRAG CAUSED BY INCOMPLETE BRAKE RELEASE; OR THE ANCHOR PLATE COULD FATIGUE, RESULTING IN A CRACKED AND/OR FRACTURE ANCHOR PLATE.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
