Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
THE CATCHING OF THE PISTON HEAD/PLATE ON THE REDUCING RING MAY LOCK UP THE CORRESPONDING FRONT AIR DISC BRAKE WHICH MAY IMPACT THE OPERATOR’S ABILITY TO STEER OR CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
DAIMLER TRUCKS RECALLED 1 MY 2009 FREIGHTLINER CUSTOM CHASSIS X-LINE MOTOR HOME CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX FRONT AIR DISC BRAKES.
THE FRONT AIR DISC BRAKES MAY HAVE BEEN CONTAMINATED WITH GREASE BETWEEN THE PISTON HEAD/PLATE AND THE DIAPHRAGM.
WHEN BRAKING PRESSURE IS APPLIED, THE GREASE MAY ALLOW THE PISTON HEAD/PLATE TO SLIP OFF CENTER AND CATCH ON THE REDUCING RING OF THE SERVICE CHAMBER.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
