What’s wrong with it?
FRACTURED WHEEL STUDS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
M.
H.
EBY RECALLED 1 MY 2009 SM1GLP GROUND LOADER TRAILER EQUIPPED WITH ARVINMERITOR AXLE ASSEMBLIES WITH SUSPECT WHEEL END STUDS.
THE WHEEL END STUDS WERE IMPROPERLY TEMPERED, POTENTIALLY RENDERING THEM BRITTLE AND SUSCEPTIBLE TO FRACTURE.
IF ONE WHEEL STUD FRACTURES, THE REMAINING WHEEL STUDS ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY MORE LOAD.
IF LEFT IN THIS CONDITION, THE REMAINING WHEEL STUDS MAY ALSO FRACTURE EVEN IF THEY ARE PROPERLY MANUFACTURED.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
