What’s wrong with it?

IN THIS CONDITION, EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF THE TURBOCHARGER HOUSING MOUNTING BOSS DURING NORMAL ENGINE OPERATION MAY CAUSE THERMAL FATIGUE OF THE TURBOCHARGER HOUSING. THE TURBOCHARGER HOUSING MAY CRACK, RELEASING EXHAUST GASES THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE.

MITSUBISHI FUSO IS RECALLING 2,957 MY 2008 FE83D, FE84D, FE85D, AND FG84D TRUCKS.

THE BOLT HOLES IN THE TURBOCHARGER BRACKET, WHERE THE TURBOCHARGER IS AFFIXED, WERE MANUFACTURED WITH INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE.

STRESS IS PLACED ON THE MOUNTING BOSS WHEN THE BRACKET IS AFFIXED TO THE TURBOCHARGER, DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE AFFIXING BOLTS AND BRACKET HOLES.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
