The short answer

NHTSA received PORSCHE CARS NORTH AMERICA, INC.’s report on Dec 11, 2007. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

IF THE TRACTION CONTROL OR ACTIVE STABILITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ARE INADVERTENTLY DISABLED, AND THE SUBSEQUENT WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATION IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ONBOARD COMPUTER IS UNNOTICED BY THE DRIVER, THE SAFETY BENEFITS OF THESE SYSTEMS WOULD BE UNAVAILABLE TO THE DRIVER WHICH COULD INCREASE THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH DURING AGGRESSIVE DRIVING MANEUVERS.

ON CERTAIN 2 DOOR COUPE VEHICLES, THE SWITCH CONSOLE FOR THE PORSCHE ACTIVE SUSPENSION MANAGEMENT (PASM) AND THE TRACTION CONTROL (TC-OFF) SWITCHES WAS INAPPROPRIATELY INSTALLED.

THE LEDS IN THE SWITCHES CAN SIGNAL A FUNCTIONAL CHANGE IN THE PASM MODE OR THE DEACTIVATION OF TRACTION CONTROL EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCHES ARE NOT ACTUATED.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
