The short answer

NHTSA received INTERNATIONAL TRUCK & ENGINE CORPORATION’s report on Feb 5, 2007. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 23, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

IF THE STOP ARM DOES NOT DEPLOY, A CHILD OR PEDESTRIAN MAY BE ENDANGERED BY PASSING MOTORISTS FAILING TO STOP AT A SAFE LOCATION. IF THE CROSSING ARM DOES NOT DEPLOY, A CHILD OR PEDESTRIAN MAY ENTER THE DRIVER’S BLIND SPOT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

CERTAIN 2007 AND 2008 MY IC SCHOOL BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JANUARY 18, 2006, AND JANUARY 17, 2007.

THE AIR SUPPLY FITTING MAY SEPARATE FROM THE BASE PLATE, PREVENTING ACTUATION AIR FROM REACHING THE STOP ARM AND/OR CROSSING ARM.

THIS CONDITION WILL RESULT IN NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE STOP ARM AND/OR CROSSING ARM DURING A SCHOOL BUS STOP TO PICK-UP OR DISCHARGE PASSENGERS.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
