The short answer

NHTSA received CARLISLE TIRE AND WHEEL’s report on Aug 31, 2007. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A VEHICLE CRASH CAN OCCUR IF THE TIRES FAIL PREMATURELY.

CERTAIN CARLISLE TIRE & WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WITH LOAD RANGE F USA TRAIL TIRES, SIZE 20.5/8.0-10, USED IN A SINGLE AXLE APPLICATION BY KARAVAN TRAILER.

THESE TIRES MAY HAVE BEEN INFLATED LESS THAN THE SPECIFIED PRESSURE AND/OR MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE PROPER CARCASS TENSION, ALL OF WHICH HAS RESULTED IN PREMATURE CRACKING AND, IN SOME CASES, TREAD LOSS.

THESE TIRES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 119, NEW PNEUMATIC TIRES.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
