What’s wrong with it?

SHOULD THE SEAT SUDDENLY DROP WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN USE, THE DRIVER’S ACCESS TO STEERING AND OTHER VEHICLE CONTROLS WOULD BE AFFECTED POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

CERTAIN GRA-MAG AIR SUSPENSION SEATS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN OCTOBER 1, 2004, AND OCTOBER 10, 2005, SOLD IN THE AFTERMARKET FOR USE ON FREIGHTLINER VEHICLES.

FRICTION CORROSION CAN FORM ON THE THREADS OF THE CENTRAL BEARING BOLT ALLOWING THE SQUEEZING NUT TO LOOSEN OVER TIME CAUSING THE SUSPENSION TO BE INOPERABLE, LEAN TO ONE SIDE, AND/OR SUDDENLY LOSE SEAT HEIGHT.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
