NHTSA received TEREX TELELECT, INC.’s report on Jan 4, 2007. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 28, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

FAILURE OF THE CHECK VALVE CAN RESULT IN UNEXPECTED BOOM PLATFORM MOVEMENT AFTER THE CONTROL LEVER IS RETURNED TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION, OR ALLOW VACUUM TO FORM IN HYDRAULIC LINES TO THE BOOM TIP AND COULD CAUSE POTENTIAL DIELECTRIC FAILURE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

CERTAIN TEREX TELELECT DIGGER DERRICKS AND AERIAL DEVICES EQUIPPED WITH CHECK VALVES WITH P/NOS ENGRAVED ON THE VALVE OF; 1904F, 1908F, 1910F, AND 1910R.

THESE VALVES CAN FAIL WHICH CAN CAUSE THE PARTS TO MOVE THROUGH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OR WILL ALLOW A VACUUM TO FORM IN HYDRAULIC LINES IF THE PUMP FLOW SHOULD STOP.

THESE DEVICES ARE INSTALLED ON TRUCKS TO TRANSPORT THE AERIAL DEVICE OR DIGGER DERRICK TO THE WORK SITE TO FACILITATE WORKING ON ELECTRICAL POWER LINES AND COMMUNICATION LINES OR TO TRIM TREES.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
