The short answer

NHTSA received MIAMODA, INC.’s report on Nov 8, 2007. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

UNLESS ALL CONNECTION POINTS (TWO IN FRONT AND TWO IN REAR) ARE FIRMLY CONNECTED, IN THE EVENT OF A SEVERE VEHICLE CRASH, THE RESTRAINT CARRIER MAY DETACH FROM THE BASE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO THE CHILD. ALSO, WITHOUT REGISTRATION CARDS, OWNERS MAY FAIL TO REGISTER THEIR INFANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM WITH THE MANUFACTURER, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO NOTIFY THEM IN THE EVENT OF A FUTURE RECALL.

CERTAIN MIAMODA, MODEL VIVA, INFANT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS OR THE SEPARATELY SOLD BASES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN DECEMBER 19, 2006, AND FEBRUARY 6, 2007.

IN CERTAIN MOTOR VEHICLES, THE LOWER ANCHOR CONNECTOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY MAY INTERFERE WITH THE CONNECTION OF THE INFANT CARRIER TO THE BASE.

ALSO, REGISTRATION CARDS WERE NOT PROVIDED WITH THE VIVA INFANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM OR THE SEPARATELY SOLD BASES WHICH FAILS TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 213, CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
