What’s wrong with it?

IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, A LOOSE HARNESS AROUND THE CHILD COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY.

CERTAIN BRITAX DECATHLON CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, MODEL E9L47, MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 12, 2005, THROUGH JULY 31, 2007.

THE HARNESS ADJUSTER HOUSING CAN POP OUT OF POSITION WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO ADJUST THE HARNESS TO FIT SNUGGLY AROUND THE CHILD.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
