The short answer

NHTSA received INTELLITEC’s report on Oct 19, 2006. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

IF THE UNIT HAS 110 VOLTS PRESENT, THE WIRES COULD HEAT EXCESSIVELY DUE TO LOOSE CONNECTIONS WHICH COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN A FIRE.

CERTAIN INTELLITEC 50 AMP TRANSFER SWITCHES, P/N 00-00803-100, MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 1 AND MAY 15, 2005, INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON CERTAIN RECREATION VEHICLES.

THE SWITCHES WERE PRODUCED WITH THE WRONG TERMINAL SCREWS WHICH WERE TOO SOFT TO TIGHTEN TO THE PROPER TORQUE.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
