What’s wrong with it?
SHOULD THE DRIVELINE SEPARATE, THE VEHICLE COULD BECOME INOPERABLE. IN ADDITION, A DRIVELINE THAT HAS SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE COULD COME IN CONTACT WITH NEARBY VEHICLES OR PERSONS, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURIES.
CERTAIN ARVINMERITOR HIGH ANGLE INTER-AXLE DRIVELINES, MODEL NO.
RPL20, SHIPPED TO VOLVO TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA AND FREIGHTLINER LLC BETWEEN JUNE 15 AND AUGUST 28, 2006, TO BE INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON CERTAIN HEAVY TRUCKS.
AN IMPROPER SEATED OR MISSING SNAP RING CAN RESULT IN THE BEARING CUP TO SEPARATE FROM THE SLIP YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY.
THE UNIVERSAL JOINT CROSS COULD THEN CONTACT THE SLIP YOKE CASTING AND EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE EAR WORK TO FRACTURE.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
