What’s wrong with it?
THE BELT CAN “WALK” OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND RUB AGAINST THE POWER STEERING LINE.
COMPRESSOR MOUNT KIT P/N 4012080, MANUFACTURED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1, 2002, AND MARCH 6, 2003.
THE COMPRESSOR IS HELD IN ALIGNMENT OF THE BELT LOOP BY A MANUFACTURED WELDMENT.
WELDMENT DOES NOT LINE UP PREFECTLY WITH THE IDLER, CAUSING THE BELT TO MOVE OF “WALK” OFF CENTER.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
