What’s wrong with it?
IF THE HINGES CRACK, THEY BECOME WEAK AND CAN FALL OFF THE TRAILER WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: ROLL-OFF CONTAINER DOORS FOR CONSTRUCTION TRAILERS.
IMPROPERLY TEMPERED STEEL FLAT BARS WERE INSTALLED.
THE STEEL USED FOR THE HINGE OF THE CONTAINER DOORS WHEN WELDED, BECOMES BRITTLE.
THIS CREATES A RISK THAT THE STEEL MAY CRACK, CAUSING THE ENTIRE DOOR TO FALL OFF UNEXPECTEDLY.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
