All 1,037 in one list

Every one on the record by city and county: open a place for its list, which you can filter by what each record says.

1,037 private schools in 266 cities and towns and 91 counties. From the North Carolina Department of Administration, Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE): Current Open Private Schools as of October 7, 2026.

What North Carolina’s list covers

Every conventional private school open in North Carolina, as its Division of Non-Public Education lists those that filed a notice of intent to operate; home schools are on a register of their own and aren’t here. NCES’s survey counted 703 private schools in North Carolina in 2021-22. DNPE’s list gives no number for a school, so each record’s number is Hearth Record’s own.
