What California’s list covers

The private schools that filed California’s Private School Affidavit with the Department of Education and reported six or more students, from CDE’s map of the 2024-25 affidavits. Smaller private schools, many of them home-based, aren’t in it, and filing isn’t approval: CDE evaluates and endorses none of them. NCES’s survey counted 3,145 private schools in California in 2021-22.
